Hillary Clinton Announces 2016 Presidential Campaign

After months of speculation, Hillary Clinton, 67, has confirmed that she’s running for president in 2016! The former Secretary of State, New York senator and First Lady announced on April 12 that she’ll seek the Democratic nomination for president next year.Hillary announced her candidacy for the Oval Office in 2016 on April 12. The big reveal was made in emails fromJohn Podesta, Hillary’s campaign chairman, to donors and supports, according to the New York Times. Soon after the news broke, Hillary released an announcement video on YouTube titled “Getting Started.” The video featured everyday Americans getting ready for changes in their lives. “I’m getting ready to do something, too!” Hillary says in the video. “I’m running for President.” She also tweeted to her 3.2 million followers the message below: I’m running for president. She’s the first big name to enter the Democratic race, while Republican senators, Ted Cruz,44, and Rand Paul,52,have also announced their candidacies.Hillary became a national public figure after her husband, Bill Clinton, 68, was elected to the Presidency in 1992. She was the first First Lady to hold a postgraduate degree and to have her own professional career prior to entering the White House. She was an active participant in Bill’s administration. In 2000, Clinton was successfully elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000, representing New York until 2009. After her Presidential campaign in 2008 failed to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination, going instead to SenatorBarack Obama, 53, she returned to her Senate duties.
