Martin Skrtel was charged with intentionally stamping the foot of Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea in their premier league clash on Sunday but the Slovakian defender denied the charge.
The FA charged the player after referee Martin Atkinson missed the incident which almost led to a fighr between both players occurred in injury time as Skrtel stepped on De Gea while chasing a lose ball into the Manchester United area which was caught by De Gea. Skrtel claimed the collision was simply accidental and would have to wait for tomorrow’s verdict.
Martin Atkinson would deliver the verdict on Wednesday, and Skrtel faces a three match ban which would see him miss some important fixtures as Liverpool push for a top four finish including their premier league clash with Arsenal on the 4thof April.
